WELCOME TO IT'S YOGA

Holly Moretti

Welcome to Spring!
I don’t know about you but it seems to me like winter has lasted forever. Maybe it is because my 3 year old son has been asking since November “how many more days until it’s warmer and we can play outside again”. Soon we will see the green leaves, and blue sky. I have contemplated why the first day of spring comes when the weather hasn’t quite warmed up to more spring like temperatures? Maybe even though I have seemingly been ready for the warmth since January I still need a little more time to get ready. Perhaps it is nature’s way of teaching me to be patient.

Patience is an essential part of our Yoga practice. It is sometimes difficult in our society to cultivate this skill because we are accustomed to instant gratification. I love Tivo because I don’t have to watch commercials so I won’t be inundated with offers for fast food, or fast cars, or fast credit cards. However, the whole concept of on demand TV is just another example of getting what I want when I want it and not having to wait. It’s safe for me to say that your Yoga mat will never be equipped with a fast forward button. The only way you will ever be flexible enough to introduce your forehead to your knees is by cultivating patience with yourself and your body. So take some advice from the guru of Ashtanga Yoga Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois, “Do your practice and all is coming”

New Spring Schedule

The newness of spring brings a new quarter and a new schedule. You can pick up a copy at the studio or check it out online. There are only a few minor changes to note. Sunday evening Yin Class has been changed to start at 7pm to allow you to take advantage of the extra daylight. Our Monday morning class will now start at 6:15am and run until 7:30am and the Monday evening class has also been adjusted to run from 6-7:30pm. Zoe will be teaching a new Yogalates class on Tuesday from 12-1pm starting on April 1. This class will combine the core work of Pilates with the flow of Vinyasa Yoga.

The early morning Wednesday has been cancelled temporarily but may return in the future. If you love practicing with us in the morning there will be a Tuesday and Thursday early morning class included in our Karma Cleanse workshop.

Spring Workshops

Karma Cleanse with Laurel will be starting April 5th and is a great idea if you are interested in doing some internal spring cleaning of the mind and body. Dave Stringer is coming to town on Friday April 11. You can get your tickets in advance at the studio. If spring is prompting you to try something new and you have never experienced Kirtan this is the event for you. Also we are kicking off a 500 hour level teacher training program
May 1-4 with a workshop on the Art of Sequencing.

There are many opportunities to enjoy the wonderful practice of Yoga. We invite you to take a look at the new spring schedule as well as your practice and see how minor adjustments may enable major changes.

Namaste,
Holly
